When British Anglers Caught Giant Catfish in Spain
A group of Britons brought back an unforgettable memory when they caught a giant Wels catfish in Mequinenza, Spain. Posted by the media on the Mirror page, the British team had an unbelievable experience when they caught a catfish weighing more than 110kg and over 2 meters long. According to the tour guide here, this is the largest catfish he has ever seen.
Even local residents flocked to witness this rare sight. After meeting the giant catfish, they released it back into the wild and the fish was still alive.
Daniel Storey, 31, a resident of Carlisle, England, has been fishing for 10 years and was amazed at catching such an impressive sized catfish.
He shared: “Caught a giant fish is a dream come true. I have never seen anything so special before. I think it was a memorable experience with the miraculous reaction of the fisherman. friend.”
While on a weeklong fishing trip with Lewis Pattinson and Martin Irwin, both 32 years old, Daniel caught the catfish after about 40 minutes of struggle. They used a boat to bring the fish ashore from the Segre River.
Wels catfish can weigh up to 140kg. Peter Irwin, 41, the man behind Monster Catfishing Tours, accompanied the British group and said: “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime event. Over the course of 20 years I have seen many people. come here to fish, but no one has caught such a big fish. It was a lucky day for them indeed.”
The Wels catfish has a long gray body, large eyes and mouth. They usually eat fish and birds in their habitat.
