ASTi, a leading provider of simulation and training solutions, has successfully delivered cutting-edge technology to enhance air traffic control (ATC) training environments. Working in collaboration with SAIC, ASTi has supplied 27 instances of its innovative Simulated Environment for Realistic ATC (SERA) product for military and commercial aviation training applications.
SERA, an automated and AI-based ATC service, offers a comprehensive training solution for both military and commercial aviation sectors. SAIC has integrated SERA into existing MQ-9 Reaper Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALET-JSIL Aircrew Training) systems. The initial deployment took place at the Joint Technology Control/Simulation Lab (JSIL) and includes Redstone Arsenal and Alabamam.
SAIC is set to test the new SERA instances using virtual machines, ensuring compatibility with customized high-fidelity simulators. This capability will provide MQ-9 operators with an enhanced training environment, encompassing aircraft, pilots, realistic controllers, and mission-specific radio traffic. Additionally, these SERA instances align with changes in aircrew procedures and MQ-9 training protocols, incorporating ASTi’s software maintenance and support.
This solution offers flexibility by accommodating enhancements and updates to SERA along with custom feature requests. Finally, ASTi will oversee installation and training for the newly filed SERA instances.
