American Airlines: The DC-9 (Super 80).

The DC-9, also known as the McDonnell Douglas DC-9, is a twin-engine, single-aisle jet airliner that was first introduced in 1965. It was later upgraded and rebranded as the MD-80 series, which included the Super 80 variant. The Super 80 was introduced in 1979 and featured several improvements over the earlier DC-9 models, including a more powerful engine, improved avionics, and increased passenger capacity.

The Super 80 was a popular aircraft for many airlines in the United States, particularly in the 1980s and 1990s. American Airlines was one of the major operators of the Super 80, using the aircraft extensively on domestic routes throughout the country. The airline eventually retired its fleet of Super 80s in 2019, marking the end of an era for the aircraft.

Despite its retirement, the Super 80 remains a beloved aircraft among aviation enthusiasts and pilots, known for its reliability, efficiency, and distinctive appearance.
