The AH-1Z Vipers are fielded in Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadrons, or HMLAs. These detachments from the HMLAs are deployed as part of Marine Expeditionary Units to support amphibious operations, joint exercises, and operations.

The AH-1Z Viper is an advanced attack helicopter manufactured by Bell Helicopter. It is a twin-engine helicopter equipped with a four-bladed rotor system and is primarily used by the United States Marine Corps.

This upgraded version of the AH-1W Super Cobra boasts improved airframe, avionics, and weapons systems. It has a top speed of 255 knots (293 mph) and a range of 370 nautical miles (426 miles).
